The company was founded by industrialist and entrepreneur Manoel Vieira de Araújo in the 1930s, and is still family-owned to this day. To celebrate its 70th anniversary, Viarco reissued some of their products exclusively for A Vida Portuguesa, a Lisbon-based, women-owned shop focused on crafts made in Portugal.
