This Ceramic Pedestal Bowl, sourced by A Vida Portuguesa, a small Lisbon-based, women-owned shop focused on goods made in Portugal, is produced by local craftspeople at a Portuguese family company, Maria Terracota. Maria is the name of the grandmother of the owners of the ceramic production company in the Porto de Mós region, which uses the regional natural resource of terracotta. French designer living in Portugal Sam Baron was inspired by the functional and decorative objects produced by Maria and reworked the details that make them unique in a contemporary way. Friezes, curves and undulations compose the shapes of the vases and bowls.The glazes are applied to the top of the vessels to embellish the raw clay and evoke and pay homage to the natural beauty of the region's landscape. The bowl can be used to serve snacks or hold fruit, or simply display it as a delightful centerpiece on your table.
