Model No. 031 presents a room-defining play on proportions, inspired by our favorite Gio Ponti-designed villa on the rocky coast of Bordighera, just over the French border. Anchored by a petit charcoal-tinted cast-concrete base, its supremely slender, lacquered black-bamboo column balances a hand-painted, woven-grass conical shade in glossy green lacquer with contrasting pale-green interior. Unlacquered brass hardware, a brown acrylic cloth-covered cord, and water-resistant Achille Castiglioni-designed on/off inline foot switch complete the modernist profile. Designed for use in covered outdoor areas, an adjustable brass swivel at the base allows it to maintain its perfectly straight posture on uneven surfaces.
