Haunui is a very special yarn that comes from Taranui, a small, family-owned farm located in the foothills of South Island, New Zealand. This lovely, soft yarn is a magnificent blend of wool from the fleece of the family's flock of Haunui sheep & raw Mulberry silk. This special breed is part New Zealand Halfbred & part Romney. The palette of natural, undyed colors is ideal for warm sweaters, cardigans & accessories. Soft, yet durable, garments knit from Haunui will wear exceptionally well. No two sheep are exactly the same color, but their fleece fall into color categories, and are blended to create rich shades of oatmeal, brown, gray, and black. Noro yarns embrace the Japanese philosophy of accepting & enjoying the non-uniformity, unevenness, & natural beauty of nature. All animal fibers spun into Noro yarns come from certified organic farms around the world. The yarns are as eco-friendly as possible with many processes still done by hand or on traditional machinery.
