Noro yarns embrace the Japanese philosophy of accepting & enjoying the non-uniformity, unevenness, & natural beauty of nature. All animal fibers spun into Noro yarns come from certified organic farms around the world. The yarns are as eco-friendly as possible with many processes still done by hand or on traditional machinery. Haunui Cotton is a very special yarn crafted from wool that comes from Taranui, a small, family-owned farm located in the foothills of South Island, New Zealand. This 22-24 micron yarn is spun from the fleece of the family's flock of Haunui sheep. This special breed is part New Zealand Halfbred & part Romney. The wool is then spun with cool, breathable cotton to gives this yarn an all-season wearability. The yarn is dyed in the Japan studio using the special method that gives Noro yarns their special color-changing, gradient & variegated hues. It is beautiful knit into sweaters, wraps & shawls.
