Inspired both by the pleasure of the game and the classic park bench it is played on, Drôle de Monsieur reached out to furniture designer Mabeo for a unique collaboration: a state-of-the-art chess bench. Made from panga panga wood sourced from a forestry conservation project in Mozambique, this sleek chess bench was entirely handmade in Mabeo's studio in Botswana. Made to order, one piece takes over 150 hours of work, from the woven leather on its back to the oak details on the chess board.
