Maybe because he liked to work in black and white, or maybe because his photos have such immediate urgency to them, but Ron Church's photography has always sort of reminded us of old time war correspondence. It's like, when he looks through the camera, he is searching for a moment to slice up into a micro bites for his viewer. He is precise and surgical, but also with great heart. He is conveying a story and he is detail-hungry. And of course we're sure it's different for everyone, but Ron's images often feel more like an amuse bouche for the dreams we are certain to see after we gaze at his work. All Sales Final.
