Based on the indigenous plant from the Hindu Kush region, it is easy to forget the remarkable natural flora and fauna of this fascinating central Asian country. This is a collection to highlight the unique plant life of the region. Since ancient times people have used flowers, leaves and buds to adorn jewellery - it is a universal theme - we all respond to the natural world with awe and love. Every piece is handmade in Kabul by the men and women artisans of the Turquoise Mountain Foundation. Training and employing young people in meaningful creative jobs is vitally important now in Afghanistan when the young desperately need hope and a sense of purpose in a beautiful country tragically caught up in violence and conflict.
