Popper closure and an adjustable shoulder strap to secure the cargo. ALICE is a modular carrying system developed by the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war era. The main feat was the lightweightness of it, resulting in a reduction in the combat soldier's overall load. It's still widely deployed within South American and Middle Eastern troops.
