These beautiful dresses are handmade in India and feature delicate traditional Lucknowi hand-embroidery k nown as 'Chikkan' or 'shadow work'. The embroidery is done on the reverse side of the fabric to create 'shadows', and can take up to four weeks to complete. Many people around the world travel to Lucknow to have their garments embroidered as this delicate skill requires finesse and is particular to the region.
