The Hoover-class U.S.S. Edison was part of the fleet that fought the Klingons when T'Kuvma summoned them to the binary stars. It was a compact ship that had elements in common with the U.S.S. Reliant. It was designed by John Eaves who wanted to combine the familiar elements of Starfleet design in different ways.
