The cottages in Siasconset 's Codfish Park were built originaly as shanty homes for fishermen and their families. They would venture out from the most Eastern beach on island to fish for cod in wooden row boats. As 'Sconset became a summer destination for the wealthier people from the town of Nantucket, the cottages housed domestic staff who would help with housekeeping, babysitting and cooking for the summer families. The cottages are now occupied by 'Sconset lovers and are qua i nt, unchanged, and festooned with roses as captured by Erica in this canvas.
