This beautiful example has been certified as completely colourless (D), and internally flawless (IF), which means that there are no inclusions. This exceptional antique stone is also classified as a rare and sought after Type IIa, which means it is the most chemically pure and optically transparent type of diamond. Displaying the clear hallmarks of stones from the Golconda region of India, this is a truly exceptional gemstone. The ancient kingdom of Golconda in Southern India produced an extraordinary array of both fancy coloured and colourless diamonds until the mines became exhausted in the early 20th century. Alluring and captivating Golconda stones are sought after by gem connoisseurs and collectors worldwide. Almost certainly reset into this ring at the beginning of the last century, the rich history of this diamond is not known.
