"Before they can say 'Jackie Robinson,' trouble in copious quantities is apt to break out for opponents of the University of California at Los Angeles on gridirons some of these fine fall days." –LA Times, 1939 The fact that Jackie Robinson was a four-sport star at UCLA didn't exactly inspire hope fir those he faced on the football field in the fall of 1939. Robinson had an almost mythological reputation as being the "Pasadena Flash" in Southern California, and when he got to college he nearly unstoppable as he rolled downhill. Averaging an astonishing 12.2 yards per carry that season for the Bruins in leading UCLA to an undefeated record, Robinson achieved All-American honors. Of course, Robinson went onto become the most significant athlete of all time — but we are remembering his roots. We're throwing back to that special first season on the UCLA football team with these Campus Legends sweatpants! Officially licensed by UCLA and Jackie Robinson.
