This shirt is inspired by an embroidered piano shawl, circa 1930s-1940s. These shawls were originally named for decorative piano coverings from the Victorian era, but by the 1930s, the term "piano shawl" had migrated to mean embroidered, fringed shawls worn by women. The newer shawls were influenced both by Spanish and Chinese fashions and motifs.
