A beautifully hand printed bird hanging decoration with 'message' card. Send as an alternative greeting card to friends and family for them to hang as a keepsake decoration. Each card is hand letterpress printed then die cut and creased to create the bird decoration. Small holes are added by hand using a Japanese hole punch tool and thread is carefully looped through and knotted. Each card is a little labour of love from hand printing on my treadle printing press (restored from c.1900) to die-cutting, folding and adding string and the message card. The bird is printed on 270gsm card and the notecard is printed on 350gsm card that is made sustainably in Great Britain. Thread made at Empress Mills, UK. Each piece comes a recycled kraft envelope. With letterpress printing, each print involves composing the design into a metal chase, known as a form, which is locked into the bed of the press ready to be inked. The form is pressed against the paper, creating a beautiful impression and tactile finish.
