Paul Smith is a British fashion designer whose designs are distinguished by their eccentric details and fine craftsmanship. A study in variegation, Point by Paul Smith explores scale, density, rhythm, color, and proportion in an imaginative display of the British fashion designer's signature "classics with a twist" style. In a fusion of construction and pattern, superfine nylon threads bind substantial rayon yarns with an almost metallic luster, resulting in a series of unique but related stripes. The finished woven structure is notable for its satisfying heft and tactile quality, clarity of color, and a gridded texture reminiscent of needlepoint. In later years, Maharam and Paul Smith enhanced the existing color line with six vibrant additions, which upend Point's chromatic proportions and push the limits of saturation. Whereas the first group featured five distinct stripes, the bold new colors work around a single design that allows for solid expanses. The manufacturer has work in MoMA's collection. Made in the USA. Dry-clean only. 17h x 17w x 5"d.
